The Beautiful Bible Study Supplies I Use Everyday

We’ve all seen the beautifully highlighted and annotated Bibles on Pinterest before. If you’re anything like me, you open your Bible time and time again, determined to add that satisfying element of art to your Bible Study – but you’re not quite sure where to start.

How am I supposed to choose what to highlight when everything feels so important? I never know what to annotate because, again, EVERYTHING is so important! Sometimes I hesitate to mark up my Bible. What if I change my mind later?

I want my Bible to be a keepsake for my kids someday, therefore, I want my annotations, and markings to mean something.

I have spent lots of time experimenting with different supplies and study methods. I’ve worked to find tools that are not only useful, but also beautiful. Along the way I have gathered a collection of must have supplies that I’m so excited to share with you.

Whether you’re starting a legacy Bible, looking to make your Bible study more meaningful, or simply want to add some color to your pages, you’re in the right place.

The Supplies I Use Everyday

An Aesthetic Journaling Bible

The bread and butter of any Bible study set up is finding a Bible that you truly love using. It should be a translation that is easy to read and designed with annotation in mind. High quality paper, and a modern, readable font also make a big difference.

I personally use the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible. It is not only beautiful, but it checks all of the boxes for me. The paper is high quality, and the ink doesn’t bleed through, while still maintaining the classic feel of traditional Bible Pages.

It is printed in a single-column format with lined margins for writing notes. I love this because it solves the problem of adding annotations without covering up any of the Scripture.

The Perfect Pens

Finding tried-and-true pens is honestly the cornerstone of Bible journaling. If they write too heavily, it looks messy. If they’re too thin, they can tear pages.

Full transparency: this was one of the most difficult challenges for me. Eventually I found not one, but two beautiful options.

My first pick is the Pilot Precise V5 RT pens. I love this option because they write so smoothly, never smudge, and my writing looks so clean and pretty when I use them. I had used other versions of the pilot pens that had smudged, so I was hesitant to try these- but I am so happy that I did! These pens ended up being my favorite for the bulk of my writing.

My second pick are the Piochoo Coloring Marker Pens. These also don’t bleed or smudge. I find that the Piochoo pens don’t write quite as fine as the Pilot option listed above, but they still write beautifully. They come at a really modest price point and the large color variety works great for emphasizing those really important notes, and coordinating them with highlighter colors.

My Favorite Highlighters

This choice is what can really make your Bible study Pinterest-worthy. There are so many options out there that it’s easy to get lost on Amazon and accidentally end up with 12 different variety packs of highlighters in your cart. The good news is- I already did the testing for you!

I found that the Diversebee Gel Bible Highlighters offer a smooth highlighting experience. You can easily customize with weight by controlling pressure, and again, there’s no bleeding or smudging. If you haven’t noticed by now, bleeding and smudging are one of my biggest critiques when it comes to Bible study supplies.

These highlighters come in a really large variety of color combinations, but my favorite is the Earthy variation.

If you prefer a more classic-style highlighter, the Bic Brite Liner Pastel highlighters are another beautiful choice. They offer a more traditional highlighting experience with familiar colors, but they come in softer, muted tone that work beautifully in Bibles.

Add-On’s That Take It To The Next Level

My Bible journaling secret weapon is a color-coding system! The one I use is customizable to match your highlighter colors, and comes in a set of 4 printable bookmarks.

The color-coding bookmark includes a list of categories that you’re can assign to specific highlighter color to. This is the concept that really made Bible journaling click for me. It took the chaos out of the process and gave me direction and organization.

It also comes with a helpful SOAP study guide, prayer prompts, and an emergency Scripture list.

If you choose just one product off of this list, I recommend this one. It completely changed my Bible study experience.

The Crafty Touch

Washi tape! Hear me out- I know how dangerous it can be to get into the world of washi tape. Why do we suddenly think we need 100 variations, and why is every print so beautiful?

I absolutely love using washing tape as Bible tabs. Simply fold a line of washi tape along the first page of each chapter in your Bible and voila!- You have a beautifully and subtly organized Bible.

My favorite variation is the YUBBAEX 50 pack of washi tape, which comes with super cute floral prints.

I can’t even express how fun this was to do. It added such a fun, personal touch to my Bible.

Keeping It All Together

Now that we’ve curated the perfect collection, we need the perfect storage solution. There’s nothing worse than having all these great journaling supplies and just tossing them on a shelf.

I use a sectioned caddy to hold my pens, highlighters, and tape.

I love this choice because it is budget-friendly, cute, and holds all my supplies perfectly. It’s not too big or too small, and it makes it easy to carry everything with me when I want to move my Bible study to a different space.

Building Your Perfect Bible Study Set Up

Bible study doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes having the right tools simply helps remove distractions and makes the process even more enjoyable.

Whether you’re highlighting verses, organizing your notes, or adding creative touches to your pages, the goal is the same: spending meaningful time in Scripture. I hope these supplies help you create a Bible study routine that feels both organized and inspiring.
